Meet Briana

Hi! I’m Briana Oden. A full spectrum doula who has a lot of passion for birth work. I have supported family & friends throughout their pregnancy & breastfeeding journeys for the past 8 years before becoming formally trained & certified through the Sokana Collective in early 2022. Being a full spectrum doula gives me the ability to support your family through birth and/or the postpartum period. Some of my traits include being patient, respectful, reliable & emotionally present with her clients. I am confident & eager to support you through your birth experience. I also provided overnight postpartum care for families.

I decided to become a doula after experiencing my own birth trauma in 2014, as well as listening to others share their stories. I noticed a common trend in lack of knowledge & support surrounding pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding & postpartum care which has led too many women, especially those from marginalized communities, to experience unnecessary birth trauma. I started my doula journey believing that I would only desire to help out with home births, but quickly understood the NEED for my presence, advocacy & support in hospital settings where most birth trauma occurs. My main goal as a doula is to educate & provide emotional & physical support for clients, thus giving them the confidence to make the right decisions for themselves decreasing the chance for an undesirable birth experience.

When I’m not out fighting for birth justice, I am homeschooling my 2 young boys (ages 6 & 8), being a soccer mom, providing tutoring services to K-12 students, in addition to running my own handmade bath & body business. I clearly love to stay busy through service & pouring into others.
