What is a Doula?

Sokana’s definition of a doula: A doula is a trained professional who provides non-medical support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, keeping in mind the delicate nature of providing this support to marginalized communities. This support includes education, self-advocacy, coaching, and nurturing. We have a variety of doulas with a wide range of education, skills, and experience. We will find the right fit for you.

 

Our doulas will offer support, including but not limited to:

Education | Comfort Measures | Emotional Support and Encouragement | Guidance for Your Loved Ones | Infant Feeding | Newborn Basics

 

Our Fee Structure:

We believe that price should not be a barrier for our services. We have our full fee prices listed under each section and we expect that to be paid by those who can afford it. For those who are unable to pay the full fee we have the following sliding scale:

Labor Support
$0 - $24,999 | $150
$25,000 - 44,999 | $300
$45,000 - $64,999 | $700
$65,000 - $84,999 | $1,000
$85,000 - $99,999 | $1,350
$100,000 and above | $1,500

Postpartum Support
$0 - $25,000 | $150 for up to 30hrs of care
$25,001 - $44,999 | $12/hr daytime and $15/hr for overnight
$45,000 - $64,999 | $17/hr daytime and $20/hr for overnight
$65,000 - $84,999 | $27/hr daytime and $30/hr for overnight
$85,000 - $99,000 | $34/hr daytime and $37/hr for overnight
$100,000 and above | $37/hr daytime and $40/hr for overnight
