Meet Rise

Rise (they/them) is a queer, Black, disabled Full Spectrum Birthworker (Birth / Postpartum/ Abortion / Grief & Loss) living on Potowatomi Land (Chicago). Rise centers work with pregnant and postpartum people that are Black and Brown; trans, nonbinary, queer, disabled, and neurodivergent. They are also a writer, poet, artist, and Meditation, Trauma, and Disability Justice facilitator.

Rise is deeply invested in disability justice, access, centering wellness for Black queer folk, trauma education, and rest. But, when they are not doing the most, they daydream and hang with their support pup, Jelly Ferocious. If they could be any animal, it would be a sloth or a brontosaurus.

You can learn more about them at their website: www.riotousroots.com.
